This past month was a fun filled and exciting mix of creative arts and music making!

On the 9th December 1pm at Wollondilly Shire Hall, we have our very exciting end of year creative festival River Fest is coming up soon and we're so proud to showcase the amazing River Roadies of 2023! River Fest aims to share all things River Road including student performances, the launch of our student album, short films, innovative coding and robotics projects, visual and urban art pieces and also some very impressive photography.

Also part of the River Fest, is sharing our Student Works album for 2023, where all students have the opportunity to record and produce their own piece of music. This can be a few bars to completed compositions. The album will be completed in the final week of the school term and launched online before we break for Christmas.

Here’s what’s been going on…

Our very exciting end of year creative festival River Fest is coming up soon and we're so proud to showcase the amazing River Roadies of 2023!

Saturday 9th December, Doors open at 1pm

Wollondilly Shire Hall Picton - 52 Menangle Street, PICTON

River Fest aims to share all things River Road including student performances, the launch of our student album, short films, innovative coding and robotics projects, visual and urban art pieces and also some very impressive photography.

There will be free drumming clinics and music making workshops scheduled throughout the day on the Creative Dilly Bus, so you can get a taster of River Road if you haven’t already! This event will also be catered with a free sausage sizzle thanks to our friends at the Bargo Men's Shed. Nom nom nom!

The festival is a fun, stress free, creative arts event that celebrates students’ progress and works, but also showcases our community programs and groups and what River Road is all about. We are extending an invite to the whole community to come and check it out.

The general schedule is as follows:

1:00pm - Doors Open

1:30pm - Dilly Choir

1:45pm - Tuesday Night Youth Groups

2:00pm - Mens Music Cave

2:15pm - Student Films

2:45pm - Student Performances*

4:30pm - Student Awards and Presentation

5:00pm - Student jam and Festival Close

The amazing Heather Berman is back in the studio making it happen with a very vibrant street band sound 🤯🥁🎺

Hill Top and Wingello Drop In Sessions

This Term 4 we continued to deliver our creative youth drop in sessions at Hill Top, but will not be extending our sessions to Wingello and Penrose, supporting youth in our neighbouring shire!

Tune In: Music and Arts Expression Sessions

Join us for a series of FREE immersive music and art workshops in the Southern Highland this summer school holidays. Designed for youth aged 12-24, youth will dive into the world of songwriting, music and production, and visual arts, culminating in the creation of a professional complication album and festival exhibition

Creative Dilly Mobile Studio is on the Road!

This past month we officially launched the Creative Dilly Mobile Studio!

A big thanks and shout out to all the men at the Bargo Men's Shed who were instrumental in making this transformation.

Student Works 2023

Our Student Works album provides students the opportunity to record and produce their own piece of music. This can be a few bars to completed compositions. The album will be completed in the final week of the school term and launched online before we break for Christmas.

Each teacher will work with their students to ensure they have a piece to add to the album, but please reach out to Pat if unsure or wish to discuss your child’s contribution.

Tahmoor Creative Youth Drop In Sessions - Tuesdays 7pm-8pm

We continue to create a safe, welcoming and relaxed space where young people can fearlessly express themselves in different creative ways. Where they can make some noise and create art without pressure on high performance so they enjoy the process of learning and be inspired to explore their own ideas.

New Student Platform - Udio

Over the last month we have been implementing a new student management platform Udio, which aims to streamline our operations, but also provide students and parents greater visibility and management of their lessons. This includes make up lessons and cancellations, and payment control.

River Road and Vinnies Collaboration

Did you know that we have been going on tour every week to run musical workshops with the amazing people at Creative Space Southern Highlands? 🎵🎶

Run by Vinnies Australia, The Creative Space is an inclusive, welcoming, and safe place for adults. They want to make sure everyone has access to the arts so they run all sorts of amazing creative workshops for the community. 🧡
