River Road Newsletter! February 2024

I hope you all having a great start to term 1 and enjoying making music and art! This month we had our Creative Youth Drop In Sessions Tuesday Nights at 7pm, our Mens Music Cave had another session last Sunday, and our Dilly Choir continuing to sing their hearts out each Wednesday 7pm plus our awesome students creating music and art! This month we continue to work with NSW Health on a Comedy and Music Variety night, scheduled for Friday 12th April, 6pm-8pm at Bowral Memorial Hall. This will include Wollondilly and Wingecarribee comedians who recently participated in our Comedy Workshops, but will also see music performances from our community music groups Dilly Choir, The Ramshackle Orkestra, and our teacher Paul Malia performing a song written in response to the 2019/20 black summer Bushfires. We are also excited to partner with Wollondilly Shire Council and the Youth Advisory Group (YAG) in putting on the Rock the Dilly youth music event on 20th April at the Picton Botanical Gardens in their new purpose built performance stage. Youth Week - Rock The Dilly We are excited to partner with Wollondilly Shire Council and the Youth Advisory Group (YAG) in putting on the Rock the Dilly youth music event on 20th April at the Picton Botanical Gardens in their new purpose built performance stage. This event is gearing up to be quite awesome! We're stoked to be part of something that showcases the amazing talent in our local youth Save the date - more info coming soon! At this stage, if you are part of a band, a duo or a solo performer and you'd like to hit the stage at this event, get your registration in by 15th March. Warragamba Expression Session! This month the Creative Dilly made another trip up to Warragamba to set up and do some music and creative art workshops. In this session we had more students engaging in one on one lessons and making the best of the music studio within the bus! A HUGE thanks to all the local businesses that are supporting this initiative, and bringing free creative arts education to the Wollondilly! This includes Highlands Blinds, Shutters & Awnings Carpenter Partners Jam Signs and the BARGO MENS SHED INC These amazing businesses are the first to get the Creative Dilly Bus rolling around in 2024!! Comedy and Music Variety Night In partnership with NSW Health Recovery and Resilience team and Wingecarribee Shire Council, we helping put together a Comedy and Variety night, Friday 12th April, 6pm-8pm at Bowral Memorial Hall. Coding and Robotics Program Back for Term 1! Designed to have fun while exploring the exciting world of creative coding and robotics. This 8 week program will get them thinking with problem solving, designing, building and programming. A fun, one hour session with the program finishing up at our end of year celebration ‘River Fest’ with their robots and games on display!

Mixed Creative Arts Program This 10 week program allows students to explore commonly used art mediums towards developing creative and artistic skills. This includes, drawing, shading to photo editing - all while encouraging self expression, fun, creativity. Music Therapist in the House!! Reminder we have Pat as our own Registered Music Therapist! To attain this distinction, Pat successfully completed a Master of Music Therapy and fulfilled the registration requirements with the Australian Music Therapy Association Music therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses music and musical elements to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. Music therapists are trained professionals who use their musical expertise to assist people achieve specific therapeutic goals and enhance their overall wellbeing. The application of music in therapy hinges on the recognition that music possesses the remarkable ability to elicit emotions, memories, and physical responses. This quality renders music an invaluable tool for fostering communication, self-expression, and personal growth. Music Therapy services are available to all people, and is an approved NDIS support. River Road and Vinnies Collaboration Did you know that we have been going on tour every week to run musical workshops with the amazing people at Creative Space Southern Highlands? 🎵🎶 Run by Vinnies Australia, The Creative Space is an inclusive, welcoming, and safe place for adults. They want to make sure everyone has access to the arts so they run all sorts of amazing creative workshops for the community. 🧡 We kick these off again every Thursday 11am at the Creative Space, Unit 6-7/63-69 Kirkham Rd, Bowral NSW |

Wollondilly Mens Music Cave Reminder our Mens Music Cave meets the last Sunday of the Month, 9am-11am, with the next session 31st March. The mens music cave meet the last Sunday of each month and welcome all male in the Wollndilly to join us in making some music, having a chat, and enjoying som breakfast. It was great to see new members join the caver last Sunday! This is a free activity funded by the Wollondilly Shire Council Community Grants program! |

Udio Account and Term 1 Over the last term we implemented a new student management platform Udio, which aims to streamline our operations, but also provide students and parents greater visibility and management of their lessons. For students registered for Term 1, please ensure all student details are up to date including outstanding Term 4 fees.
