River Road Newsletter!

I hope you all had a great holiday break, and are looking forward to Term 4!

We’ve had a great past two weeks, filled with workshops and creative sessions! This included our music camps and stop motion filmmaking workshops - but also our new Creative Drop In Sessions. These sessions focused on providing teens afternoons to use the space as they wish, which may be making music, writing and recording sound, making films, or creating visual art. These sessions also coincided with an Urban Art Workshops with Joe Quilter, and a Ukulele Workshop.

This Term 4, we again have our group music classes on Tuesdays, and our Filmmaking Programs on Wednesdays - with our NEW Urban Art Program with Joe Quilter on Thursdays, and a Mixed Creative Arts program with Finn on Tuesdays. See more info on each of these in this newsletter.

This term, we will be commencing our River Road Student Works album. This album provides all students the opportunity to produce a piece of creative art, which may be a small piece of music, a film, or visual art. This will be presented at our inaugural End of Year 2022 Student Works Album Launch! Ill be in touch later in the term with any further details

Here’s what’s been going on…

Urban Art Mural In the Studio!

When in the studio next, check out our new Urban Art Mural, painted by Joe Quilter. Joe is creative director for STA Paint the Town providing urban art murals around the Wollondilly.

This mural was the end product of an Urban Art Workshop provided to youth during the school holidays

Student Works 2022

ALL students the opportunity to record and produce their own piece or music, film, or creative work, with an end of the year. celebration to present these works.

Paint the Town Festival!

It has been great being part of the Paint the Town Festival, where a number of Urban Artists, have been providing Urban Art Murals around the Wollondilly.

This Festival will come to an end on the 22nd October from 12pm

Ukulele Workshop

As part of the Wollondilly Shire Councils Youth Wellbeing Recovery Initiative, we were able to provide a free Ukulele Workshop where each participant went home with their own Ukulele!

Term 4 Programs

Filmmaking Programs

These filmmaking programs allows participants to explore filmmaking production, including how to operate professional cameras, set up and manage lighting, and edit film into a digital delivery.

Stop Motion Filmmaking for Ages 6-12yrs, Wednesdays 4pm

Group Music Classes

These group classes allow kids to engage in an exciting music making environment, exploring various instruments and music making tools, including guitar, bass, drums, piano, vocals, songwriting and music production, and music theory!

Urban Art Program

Starting this Term 4, we have a Urban Art Program, with Joe Quilter.

In this program we seek to engage young persons on their terms who would benefit from and/or who have an interest in urban art. We will design artworks (small scale murals or works on paper) with preliminary concept design processes focusing on aesthetic and meaning then translated to a finished piece.

Mixed Creative Arts Program

This program allows students to explore commonly used art mediums towards developing creative and artistic skills. This includes, drawing, shading to photo editing - all while encouraging self expression, fun, creativity. Every week will have something new for students to explore whilst building on the skills taught in lessons before.

NEW Youth Music and Creative Arts Group

This group provides an open and inclusive space for youth aged 12-18yrs to learn to make music, create art, and be themselves!

This includes:

Leaning an instruments
Writing, recording and producing music
Allowing youth to be themselves and create freely

Every Tuesday 7pm-8pm

For ages 12-18yrs

FREE Entry

This program has been supported by the Bargo Sports Club!

Wollondilly Mens Music Cave

Our Next Wollondilly mens Music Cave is coming up Sunday 30th October, 9am-11am in our studio.

This local initiative invites all men in the Wollondilly, to connect and make some music.

Your involvement is up to you! - Either come along to listen to some music, enjoy some food, or engage in free instrument lessons!

We are excited to be retuning to Cawdor Public School to provide music and creative arts programs for Term 4!!

This includes our Music Program on Thursdays, and a Mixed Creative Arts program on Mondays.

Our Recent School Holiday Camps and Workshops

This past school holidays we hosted our regular school holidays music and film-making camps and workshops; which provide kids a great way to explore various instruments, make some music, and utilise some holiday time!

Reminder we have introduced a more streamlined and simpler way to manage fees, and support students, parents in tracking fees.
