Note from Pat

How time flies, and the end of Term 1 is upon us!

This term we have greatly enjoyed supporting all students explore creative arts this term! It’s awesome to be in the studio on any given afternoon, and experience the atmosphere of sound, fun, and learning happening for our students. Thanks to all students and families that have joined us this term and looking forward to seeing you all in Term 2.

River Road continues to grow, and provide new and interesting creative pathways for our students. This continues to include Joe Quilter providing more Urban and Visual Art workshops and programs, but also grateful to have the very talented Tenille Salmon of Soul Images who has been providing new photography programs as part of our youth programs.

Our Dilly Choir continues to sing and learn new songs each week, and Wollondilly Mens Music Cave continues to refine their sound - with this we continue to listen to our adult students and parents on programs and offerings they would like to see in our studio.

We are excited to be working with Cawdor Public School this coming Term 2, and welcome Rainbow Playhouse Preschool into the studio for music making sessions throughout Term 2!

Here’s what’s been going on…

Youth Stories Festival 15th and 16th April 1pm

Our Youth Stories program continues to provide creative workshops and mentoring to youth aged 12-25 to share their stories and experiences living in the Wollondilly.

Mark your diaries for our Youth Stories Festival on the 15th April at Warragamba Community Centre and 16th April Tahmoor Skate Park, where photography, film, music, and live drama will be on display.

Couch Surfing Documentary

The Couch Surfing Documentary, produced in partnership with Uniting Care was recently filmed in our studio with Joe Quilter assisting with the interview and creative activity.

The documentary aims to identify the challenges of youth homelessness in the Wollondilly, engaging willing youth to share their story and journey.

Warragamba Youth Stories Workshops

An awesome day was had at Warragamba, taking Youth Stories on tour for our northern Wollondilly friends!

We provided music and urban art workshops allowing youth to create their on works, and make some music!

We are back in Warragamba on the 1st April for more workshops and fun!

Rainbow Playhouse Preschool

We are super excited to have the young students of Rainbow Playhouse Preschool into our studio for weekly music making sessions for Term 2!

It’s great to provide these kids a supportive, creative, and enjoyable entry into music making!

Cawdor Public School

We are also excited to be providing another term of creative arts and music making to the students of Cawdor Public School!

Picton High School

Pat and Neill had the pleasure of visiting Picton High School and providing a Music Making session to their student support unit.

This included percussion and songwriting session with the students. We had a ball and looking forward to returning to the school again soon!

Wollondilly Tourism Association

It was great to be invited to the recent Tourism After 5 to share to the Wollondilly Tourism Association all the programs and activities happening in our space, but also invite some guests to experience live music making!

Creative Youth Drop In Sessions

Every Tuesday night, 7pm, our studio comes alive with an awesome bunch of youth making music, creating art, and being themselves.

These are free sessions, every Tuesday, 7pm (with free Pizza)

Tune In and Connect

Our Tune in and Connect program continues to run each Saturday from 12pm -4pm, allowing youth aged 6-18, to use the space as they wish but also engage with a scheduled creative arts teacher, for either free workshops or lessons.

This coming weekend on the 1st April, we have the very talented Rory and Neill providing a Bass and Rhythm workshop

Dilly Choir

This Dilly Choir continues to meet meet each Wednesday 7pm-8pm.

It is a safe and inclusive group, accepting people of all abilities, identities, and backgrounds, including people living with a disability.

We are strongly encouraging adult beginners and those who have never engaged a music group before.

Student Details

Students and Parents are encouraged to ensure they have completed the student details form, provided in the original Confirmation email when we first scheduled your lessons.

Please email Pat if you would like this confirmation email resent or if you have not received the original confirmation email - patrick@riverroad.edu.au

Student Details can also be accessed and updated with each reminder email. Also please email Pat if you are not receiving lesson reminder emails or texts.

FREE use of Practice and Recording Spaces for Enrolled Students

Rehearsal and practice use of our spaces

We are excited to announce that we are making our spaces freely available to enrolled students to use as rehearsal or practice spaces at times when rooms are available.

This includes use of all our instruments, including the electric drum kits, guitars and pianos.

Additionally this includes recording gear and microphones.
